ACDAcademy—Educational Videos by and for ACDA Members

Submissions are closed. Contact the ACDA office directly to discuss submission of late proposals.

The ACDAcademy is a collection of training videos that support the wide range of skills needed for emerging artists to be successful in today’s ever-changing world. The ACDAcademy digital library will provide a unique opportunity for ACDA members to share their expertise in areas outside of the studio. The ACDAcademy Library will be available to any ACDA member as a benefit of membership. Non-members will be able to access the videos for a per-video fee.

The purposes of training videos are to:

  1. serve the ACDA membership by providing opportunities for training in a variety of areas (e.g., developing a business plan for a studio; learning about music rights, gaining ideas for costuming on a budget)
  2. serve member faculty by providing them with a vetted proposal process and a formal letter of invitation/recognition for Tenure & Promotion purposes.
  3. Provide a unique opportunity to share information that is often outside standard dance curricula

Topics or Themes:
Skills relevant to the field of dance outside the areas of technique, improvisation and choreography, including but not limited to: how to develop a business plan for a studio; what every choreographer needs to know about music rights; how to get started with grant writing; what skills are needed for arts administration; considerations for choosing a graduate program; the marketable skills every dancer learns; how to start a nonprofit organization; information about teaching certifications in K-12; how to work with lighting designers; maximizing your online presence, how to network and make connections; costume design on a budget, etc.
