The ACDA Peer Response Project

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

  1. WHAT IS PEER RESPONSE AT AN ACDA CONFERENCE?

Open to all faculty members and graduate students at ACDA member institutions, the Peer Response Project supports dance in higher education by providing structured, no-cost opportunities for participants to obtain and engage in:

  • Peer Feedback: is a verbal response to a faculty member’s or graduate student’s class, panel, workshop, or other similarly-structured event.  Peer feedback happens while the requestor and the responder are at the conference; there is no follow-up after the conference concludes. 
  • Peer Review: is a written evaluation of a faculty member’s teaching, presentation or workshop, choreography, or performance.The reviewer will watch the requestor’s class, presentation or workshop, choreography or performance while at the conference, but the reviewer will complete the review after the conference concludes. The review will be written and will be submitted to the requestor within one calendar month of the conference’s end date. 
  1. CAN ANYONE REQUEST PEER FEEDBACK OR PEER REVIEW?

Peer response at an ACDA conference is available to ACDA Members only. Both graduate students and faculty members may request peer feedback. Only faculty members may request peer review.

  1. CAN REQUESTERS SUBMIT MORE THAN ONE REQUEST FOR PEER RESPONSE?

No. Due to the challenges of identifying and scheduling pairs of requesters and responders, ACDA limits each graduate student or faculty member participating in a conference to one request for peer response total.

  1. HOW DO INTERESTED CONFERENCE PARTICIPANTS SIGN UP FOR PEER RESPONSE?

Faculty and graduate students may indicate interest in requesting peer response and/or serving as a peer responder on the regional conference host’s website.
