ACDA Virtual Workshops
Description and Call for Proposals
Proposal Deadline: October 31, 2020
Submissions are closed. Contact the ACDA office directly to discuss submission of late proposals.
Dance And… workshops—conceptualized, developed and realized by ACDA members—will highlight the inherent relationship between the field of dance and the world around us. Workshops will be available to members (and non-members) across all ACDA regions. Registration will be required for these workshops with fees for participation. Fees will be low for ACDA members (TBD); fees will be higher for non-members, space permitting. With permission from presenters, ACDA may record their workshops and make them available for a fee at a later date.
The purposes of these ONE-DAY, synchronous workshops are to:
- Provide ACDA members and the larger dance community with opportunities for “deep dive” experiential learning in a specific area (e.g., dance and social justice, dance and antiracist practices)
- Provide a unique opportunity for ACDA members from across the country to interact and form connections
- Serve member faculty by providing them with a vetted proposal process and a formal letter of invitation/recognition for Tenure & Promotion purposes
Topics or Themes:
Faculty are invited to propose any topic for in-depth investigation through movement sessions, panels, Q&A, breakout room discussions and other configurations possible through a virtual interactive platform, such as Zoom.
Workshop Guidelines:
- Workshops will be synchronous events. With permission from presenters, ACDA may record the workshops and make them available at a later date for asynchronous access through ACDAcademy.
- Content delivery should be through the presenter’s institutional virtual interactive meeting platform account. Zoom is preferred. Please contact the ACDA National Office if you need assistance with hosting your workshop.
- Workshops should include at least 3 sessions with recommendation that sessions embrace multiple aspects of the field of dance, such as moving, creating, analyzing, discussing, etc…
- Recommended length of each session within the workshop: 30-90 minutes
- Workshops must be scheduled no earlier than 9:00am PT and no later than 9:00pm ET.
- Selected workshop proposals will be slated for presentation during the month of March. February and April dates may be considered if necessary.
